This is not a church or religion. This Ministry is focused on discussing issues of humanity. All humans have their own version of truth. Consider this Ministry a third party, that can see both sides of an issue without condoning either side. On the island all parties have a voice. Including my voice and my opinion, which I will include at the end of each blog.
Why an Island Heart? The beach holds a special place in my heart. It is my church, where I feel closest to my higher power. The sound of the ocean gives me peace and helps me to focus on my journey through life. Or refocus on that journey when times are tough. The island heart is the love felt when standing on the beach and looking out onto the vastness of the ocean. Saltwater Gospel by The Eli Young Band accurately describes my feelings towards the beach and ocean. I highly recommend listening to it at least once. Music is an option that can make you feel closer to your higher power.**
I ask the audience to listen to what you are reading with an open mind and heart. While some may enjoy the blog, agreeing with what is said, others may become angry or irritated. Still others may see themselves in a different light. On the island, the issues of humanity are given a place to enlighten each side with personal perceptions, their specific views on a subject.
I do ask that each reader, each audience member, to check in with yourself. Ask yourself why enjoyed the topic or issue. Ask yourself why it made you angry or why you felt irritated. Did the topic hit close to home or open up a wound. Be honest with yourself.
Some of the subjects that will be discussed are current issues, some are things I found interesting on social media. Some may relate to work issues.
Triggers
The first topic, triggers, caught my attention through a meme. I could not stop thinking about this meme, how it affected the person who posted it and how it affected the person it was about.
Your triggers are your responsibility. It isn’t the world’s obligation to tiptoe around you.
My first thought when I read this was “how sad”. I’d like to know your initial thoughts on this subject. Triggers will continue in my next blog. Welcome to Island Heart Ministry.
